About Jeanne James-Hory

Living on the rugged west coast of Northern Vancouver Island, I’m surrounded by forests, ocean, and wildlife that constantly offer beauty and inspiration. These moments — quiet, raw, and full of life — flow naturally into my paintings.
For me, painting is both grounding and expansive. It’s a way of noticing beauty, of being fully present with a color, a light, or an emotion until it reveals its deeper story.
I believe creativity isn’t reserved for artists — we all have a voice, whether expressed through movement, food, words, or images. When we give our passion time and attention, it becomes healing, both for ourselves and those who witness it.

My work is inspired by dreams, personal journeys, and the unseen energy that connects all things. Sometimes I paint wildlife, sometimes my inner landscapes, but always I’m reaching for that meeting place between what is seen and what is felt.
As a young single mother, I fought through dogma, doubt, and hardship to reclaim my creative voice. That resilience still shapes my work today, which often reflects themes of strength, transformation, and the quiet magic hidden beneath daily life.
I’m deeply curious about how sound, color, thought, and intention influence our world. What we think and feel matters — it takes form around us.
These paintings are created as reminders of this truth: visual anchors to help us slow down, breathe, and reconnect with the beauty and energy we already carry.
Each piece is meant to be more than an image — it’s a companion, a tuning fork for the soul, echoing the rhythm of expansion and renewal.
